| Level 1 - The Ultimate Place to Start |
|
The Level 1 is perfect for those with little or no acting experience or those with experience in theatre and extra work only, or minimal Screen work.
It has been designed to focus on learning all the skills required for 'Acting for Television And Film’' in New Zealand.
As Auckland is a 'Screen based' city ( has much more Screen production than professional Theatre), most auditions are on camera, so it is important to understand the NZ protocol of Auditioning and casting requirements.
The course includes : Improvisation and psychodrama on camera, Confidence building, Script analysis, Physical awareness, Point Of View, Listening and Reacting, Processing and Digesting, Timing , Acting Genre’s, TVC Audition Technique, The “X” Factor, How to win Jobs, Charting the “Action” in a scene, Characterisation, use of props, Scene Structure, Physical and emotional energy, Camera / shot awareness location shooting in two scenes.
Some students have done Level 1, as a confidence building and emotional expression exercise. Some have continued on to become excellent dedicated Screen Actors in New Zealand, London and America, in mainstream T.V.
Actors with extensive 'Theatre based 'training (including three year courses) have also benefitted from the unique, dynamic approach in Level 1. This is an in depth study of the individuals technical technique for the camera and also emotional awareness, realness and contact.
Location Shooting helps the student learn quickly from the process of performance outside the classroom and the amount of focus and commitment needed.
The Course is one night a week for ten weeks 6.30pm to 9.45pm plus Rehearsal and shooting outside class.
A DVD copy of all of the students work on the course is obtainable when ordered at the end of the course. (It is not a show-reel, it is a follow through of the individual's work from the introduction on camera, to the last location scene)
Scenes shot and edited on Level 1 are only advised to be used as show reel scene, if the are of exceptional quality. This is a working, training block. Whatever your objective, Level 1 is a superb, exciting and growth full experience.( See "testimonials")

Show Reel Course with Richard Long
The Only Known Course Of Its Kind...
|
|
See C.V For “Richard Long”
This course is perfect for a professional Actor or a student of Screen Acting ( having completed level 1,2, & 3 at Studio 111 or elsewhere) who needs a “Showreel” of high quality production scenes from Feature film scripts.
These scenes are designed to portray a variety of different characters with the actors casting range. Director Richard Long takes a group of budding Actors through his professional, in depth approach to Scene Work.
The Actors choose scenes, well known and unknown, and Richard shoots them on a chosen location set, with the Sony EX3, a superb quality professional HDV ( high definition) camera.
He edits all the scenes ( Up to 30 or 40 hours per scene) to produce superb results.
The Actors meet each week at the studio to discuss, cast and workshop the chosen scenes for the ten week period. Shooting is organised outside these meetings on specified locations.
Actors on the course also feature in each others scenes and outside Actors are also brought in to perform in specific casting requirements. This is the only known course of its kind as it gives the Actor chance to play their chosen parts and show their capability with a view to casting but without having to win the job.
The hardest part of the journey to work of the Actor is that first foot in the door. This course enables the new actor to get the footing needed to have the work viewed and show talent and dedication to potential casting directors, directors and employers.
The 'Industry' and interest in what goes on behind the camera is also covered for the young person interested in directing / producing and crew work.
Scenes produced include “Schindlers List”, Sophie’s Choice, Pulp Fiction, Girl Interrupted, Robin hood, among many more..
Examples can be seen on “UTube”....(link)

| Day 1 “Empowerment of the Voice” course |
Voice Course 1 : This is a one day Intensive "Voice" techniques workshop.
The Voice is one of our most powerful tools of expression, this area of communication and expression often gets ignored.
The Voice is highly important for the budding Actor and anyone on a 'Speaking" engagement. It communicates every area of tension, stress, emotion, every unhealed life trauma, shallow and uneven breathing.....etc. We evaluate many things about a person by the sound they make, the energy they radiate, the quality and sound of the space they take up!
To "Inspire" is to breathe deeply, fully, and to connect with our inner being and life force. The Voice expresses your tone, pitch, resonance and clarity, yet with some simple techniques is transformed into a powerful tool.
This is designed to be a very empowering one day workshop to really see how much your voice is a clear expression of who you are. Do you hold back your vocal expression? Do you mumble? Do you really believe you have worthy things to say? The Actors Voice must be resonant and clear with a warm, attractive tone.
This workshop tackles how most people, performers etc, tend to shallow breathe and not speak "on" the Voice or "on" the diaphragm.
It is a practical day to learn how to breathe fully into the diaphragm and to support the Voice with the diaphragm. This work is literally very "Inspiring" and helps the student to understand how much more they are capable of in their life, on all levels. Expanding the voice expands and energises your life.
A powerful and magical workshop – see ‘testimonials’

| Day 2 " The Power Of The Actors Voice" Course |
Day 2 of the “Voice” workshop is a further study of discovering a new, more resonant tone to you voice as you learn to use your resonators correctly.
We open up the Voice it a variety of Exercises, trouble shoot vocal challenges and then go on to study “Diction And The Actor”.
Many NZ Actors suffer from poor diction and to be taken seriously as an Actor, this must be remedied. |
